Herdvana is a card game created by Odd Family Games LLC, a small family business owned and operated by brothers-in-law Andrew and Thane. All gameplay, rules, artwork, copy, and IP for Herdvana was created by the boys - although they were not without help along the way from family and friends! Herdvana was conceived of at the family dinner table, while playing other games on a holiday break from work. The family loves playing games and making up house rules, and the seeds of a completely new game began to form. That original idea, hastily made with cut up printer paper and markers, evolved over the next four years to become a full fledged game, 2 expansions, and associated merchandise under the Herdvana name. The boys had to learn a lot along the way, and the process was not without struggles, but they believe in Herdvana as a game that can bring people together, in person, for at least a few minutes of fun! In 2023 Herdvana launched on Kickstarter, where 573 amazing people pledged nearly 40,000 dollars to help bring the game to life. Andrew and Thane are so grateful to the community and everyone who made it all possible, and want to let you all know that this is just the beginning for Odd Family Games and Herdvana!
THE STORY OF HERDVANA
ANDREW
Andrew is a licensed Architect in Arizona, artist, occasional furniture maker and carpenter, dad and husband, and most relevant to this venture, game designer and co-founder of Odd Family Games LLC and Herdvana. He is responsible for the design of Herdvana and every piece of art you see in the game and on our website. While he is the main creative brain behind the game, it wouldn't exist without Thane and the generous help of many other family members and friends.
Together (with the help of other family members throughout the process) the boys created the game play and rules and play tested it over and over to ensure that it plays well and the mechanics run smoothly.
THANE
Thane, husband and cat daddy, is the logistical mastermind behind the company. While Andrew is off drawing pretty pictures (an important job), he makes things happen. As the other co-founder of Odd Family Games LLC and Herdvana, he is the business side of the equation, making sure that everything goes smoothly for our customers, balancing spreadsheets, and is the point man for production and distribution. Of course, he also played a big role in the creation of Herdvana and its expansions.
